Friday Weigh-in

This post is dedicated to my friend and reader Sara. She pops in comments here and there, and I knew she was trying to be more healthy. She is keeping to her plan and looks terrific! She really helped inspire me this week. Her tip - more veggies and water. I tried to focus on that week. It was hard because I'm not a big veggie lover, but I am trying....Thanks Sara!!

This week I lost another pound. So far that makes 13. It seems like it is taking forever and I can feel that I am in a slump. The newness has worn off, and the workouts are becoming harder. I have found it helpful that we are signed up for a 5k. I really want to run it without stopping and that helps get me out the door.

The good news it that I can now run two miles without stopping. That is such a huge improvement over where I started. I am dedicated to making this a lifestyle which is helpful too. It's not just about the weight, it is about being healthy for our five kiddos and the sweet DH. Have a great weekend!!

  2. 13 lbs?!? Jen, you are AMAZING!! Woohoo!! You rock!! (But not in a heavy rock kind of way.) Honestly, you have inspired me to start running again. I kept making excuses about being too busy and having to wake the kids up to drag them along and then I realized - if Jen can do it with 5 kids (including baby twins!) I can do it with 2. So any pounds I lose should basically count under your weight loss....

  3. OK - if you're in a slump, you need a new work out!
    Try this:

Run 1 lap of the track - fast!
Do 10 push ups, 10 sit ups.
    Repeat 4x.

    No breaks.

    It's short, it's hard - it's even fun!

Losing a pound a week is not a slump. That is true & permanent progress. Your body is actually changing in a real way. Not a big 5lb water weight loss.

I agree though, it's not so fun! But, it's easy to do it when it's fun. This is the challenge. For me too!!

    Love you!
    Maggie

  4. Aww shucks! Thanks for the shout-out! And YOU have inspired me. I've just recently started to add running into my walk.

I prefer raw veggies so I have lots of stuff cut up and ready to go. I also use fat free dressing - anything to help me eat more veggies ;) Hummus is also really good.
